The Dutch Beek Culls 7 Roos

Verbeek cuts the squad to 28 for the Qatar match on the 15th of October.

Kewell, Bresciano and Grella have been omitted due to injury.
And four A-league players have been released.

The squad stands as this:
Jacob BURNS FC Unirea Valahorum Romania
Tim CAHILL Everton England
David CARNEY Sheffield United FC England
Scott CHIPPERFIELD FC Basel Switzerland
Robert CORNTHWAITE Adelaide United Australia
Chris COYNE Colchester United FC England
Jason CULINA PSV Eindhoven Netherlands
Bruce DJITE Genclerbirligi SK Turkey
Brett EMERTON Blackburn Rovers England
Eugene GALEKOVIC Adelaide United Australia
Richard GARCIA Hull City FC England
Brett HOLMAN AZ Alkmaar Netherlands
Scott JAMIESON Adelaide United Australia
Mile JEDINAK Central Coast Mariners Australia
Josh KENNEDY Karlsruher SC Germany
Scott MCDONALD Celtic FC Scotland
Craig MOORE Queensland Roar Australia
Stuart MUSIALIK Sydney FC Australia
Lucas NEILL West Ham United FC England
Jade NORTH Newcastle Jets Australia
Michael PETKOVIC Sivasspor Turkey
Paul REID Adelaide United Australia
Mark SCHWARZER Fulham FC England
Matthew SPIRANOVIC FC Nurnberg Germany
Shane STEFANUTTO FC Lyn Oslo Norway
Mile STERJOVSKI Derby County FC England
Archie THOMPSON Melbourne Victory Australia
Luke WILKSHIRE FK Dinamo Moscow Russia

Still no Nicky Carle, what are your thoughts, I'm not a fan. I think even without making the team he's overrated.

Revised Ozzy Football team to play Qatar selection:

Goal Keeper: Mark Schwarzer.
Centre Backs: Craig Moore, Lucas Neil.
Wing Backs: Scott Chipperfield, Luke Wilkshire.
Defensive Midfeilder: Jason Culina.
Centre Midfeilder: Tim Cahill
Winger Midfeilders: Brett Emerton, David Carney
Shadow Striker: Scott McDonald/Holman. (Beek can make that decision)
Striker: Josh Kennedy (c)

with Spiranovic, Sterovski, North or Holman/McDonald to play off the bench depending on the situation.

Tell us what you think?

It's hard to argue with emerton and wilkshire on the right and chipperfeild and carney on the left. They're all adept at playing forward on in defensive roles so they can alternate between themselves as to who goes forward.

I think Coyne will partner Neill in centre back but I wouldn't be worried if it's Moore, he was one of our best in Germany.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kennedy is used off the bench.

I'm surprised Carle Valeri isn't in the squad, especially with Grella out. He must be injured because he would more than likely start in DMF otherwise. Jacob Burns might get a run too, having played so well against the Uzbeks.

I think this game will be a corker, it's a shame that kewell and the gang will miss it but at any rate we still have a world class squad to select from. We beat them 3-0 and 3-1 in the last round of qualifying so that might mean some more goals. I just can't beleive the game isn't sold out, makes me want to get a plane to Brisbane.

Valeri is suspended.
Also Verbeek said he hadn't completely ruled out Kewell to play. He only gave him 10% chance, be he still said it was possible.

The person I most wanted to see at this game was Qatar's old coach, Jorge Fossati. That guy always looked like he was about to die and now he has left the job citing health concerns. It's sad to see the old fella go, I just love watching the Socceroos break another Uraguayan heart. hopefully their new coach Frenchy Bruno Metsu will be just as entertaining and produce the same result against the green and gold.

Adelaide's 3-0 win in the first leg of the AFC Champions League against the Uzbeks should be a good confidence builder before this game against Qatar.

You said it Nurse dude, stay tuned for a wrap of that match. Good to see our Brazilians are better than their Brazilians.
